This Colt Detective Special was shipped to the Mayor N.H. Deshler of the Town of Belvidere, New Jersey on May 10th, 1933 in a 3 gun shipment.
The factory letter states that this Colt was shipped with the blue finish and a set of Pearl grips that were supplied by the customer. Normally Colt had options for customers to select standard grips, or speciality grips such as Ivory, Pearl, Deluxe checkering etc. This is the first time we have seen a customer supply the grips to the factory to have them fitted to a revolver.
