OLD COLT: WE PROVIDE THE PUBLIC WITH AN ONLINE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE FOR OLD COLT GUNS.

About Us

Colt M1911 63797
"Old Colt - To provide the public with an online educational resource for old Colt guns."

The pistol above is the first Old Colt that we acquired.  We had no idea what we were buying at the time nor the journey it would put us on.  This experience turned into an ongoing research and educational project for ourselves.  We have met many great people along the way and been part of some incredible historical experiences.

If your anything like us, you appreciate the craftsmanship and history of these vintage colts.  Every time we examine one of these pistols, it reminds us of a time when individuals were producing a quality product that was well beyond their years.  John Browning has long since passed but his contribution to firearms development still impresses us and manifests itself daily.

Good books are essential, and every collector should heed the old adage- "Buy a gun, buy a book."  However, as times change, many more people use on-line resources for information, and the ability to access it anytime, anywhere and examine photos in detail make this a tremendous opportunity.

We decided to build this website to be able to share our knowledge and passion that we have built and acquired over the past decade.  The group of us hope the pictures and information displayed on this site will help guide you to become a better and more knowledgeable collector and be able to accomplish your collecting goals.  We sincerely hope that you find the information valuable.

One of our goals has been to ensure uniform conditions for all photos on the site so subtle differences in color, degree of polish and contours will be more apparent, instead of artificially correcting the color depth, hue, saturation to achieve a more appealing artistic appearance in the photo.   Therefore, because of the lighting and photography set up the appearance in person may vary somewhat for an individual item, but you can more easily compare the differences on the screen.

Our collection is always open to adding good examples, especially of rare or historically significant guns.  If you have something that might fit in this collection contact us here

Thank you for taking the time to browse around.  We appreciate it.  If you happen to have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us. - OldColt
