This M1911A1 has the ramped front sight. Colt moved away from the round front sight in March of 1943 at about serial number 893000 to the wide and tapered front sight as well as a square notch rear sight that is seen on this pistol.
The inspector stamp of G.H.D. for Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry. B.G. Guy Drewry was the Army Inspector of Ordnance at the Springfield Ordnance District from June 17th, 1942 to July 15th 1945.
