This Colt Woodsman Target was shipped to the Erb Hardware Company of Lewiston, Idaho on October 21st, 1946 in a 2 gun shipment.  At a later date it was then shipped to the King Gun Site company to be fitted with King sights and have some engraving work completed.  

It is accompanied by a letter from Major Robert J. Rayburn who is the the authority on the Colt Woodsman pistols.  

The letter reads: "Orville Kuhl was a Master Engraver who was active in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. His unique style of gun engraving is easily recognized and often contains very fine wildlife images. In the 1930s he was the on-call engraver for King Gunsight Co of San Francisco. He also engraved plaques and created art work on metal display items. An example of his work is in the Gene Autry Museum and was also contained in the personal collections of Robert Stack and Clark Gable, among
others.

This example, serial number 180064, has been customized and accurized by the King Gunsight Co, and engraved by Orville Kuhl.
