This Colt Police Positive Revolver was shipped to the H&D Folsom Arms Company, New York, New York, on August 11th, 1939 in a single gun shipment.
The Police Positive 38 Special's required a slightly larger and heavier frame due to the increased caliber. A small amount of these heavier and larger frames were utilized to build 32 Colt Caliber revolvers.
