In January of 1932 Colt first introduced the National Match model in their catalog. It featured a hand-honed action, a "Match" barrel and "Partridge" type sights. At it's release the cost was $40.75 when a standard Government model cost $36.75.
During the pre-war era a rough estimate is less than 3,000 national match pistols were produced. The pre-war units were manufactured until 1942 where they would cease production for Colt to be able to manufacture pistols for the US Government.
