This Colt Elite Team Special Edition was shipped to RSR Wholesale Guns South in Orlando Florida on January 18th, 1989. The factory letter notes the type of stocks are "Wrap around rubber grips.".
Remarks: The above described pistol was originally produced as part of a set. Each of the 250 sets produced consisted of a .45 caliber Combat Elite and one 10mm Delta Elite pistol. These pistols featured the special rollmark "ELITE TEAM" with the Delta Elite logo displaying the appropriate caliber in the center. In addition, each pistol was furnished with an extra magazine. The pistols were shipped from the factory in numerically matched pairs. The Combat Elite pistols were uniquely serialized 45ETOO1 through 45ET250, and the Delta Elite pistols were serialized 10ET001 through 10ET250.
The Colt Delta Elite started production in 1987 and was considered the first 10mm firearm produced by a major manufacturer. Production would stop in 1996 due to slow sales. It would then regain production in 2008 in a next generation variation.
The 10MM Auto cartridge was first developed by Jeff Cooper and introduced in 1983 with the Bren Ten Pistol. In 1989 the FBI would would select the cartridge for service for a short period of time.
