This Colt Government Model was ordered by the Government of Canada and shipped to H.W. Brown in Quebec, Canada on November 14th, 1914 in a 1,000 gun shipment.
In total the Canadian Government procured 5,000 45ACP Colt Government Models 1914. The initial 2,000 pistols were to the Department of Militia & Defense, C/O J. Wesley Allison in Waddington, New York. The subsequent 3,000 additional pistols were shipped through H.W. Brown in Quebec, Canada.
The mainspring housing and bottom side of the dust cover on this pistol is stamped crudely with a "BR" which could have been used by "Brown" to inspect them when they arrived.
