This Colt Service Model Ace was shipped to Battery B 123rd Field Artillery in Macomb, Illinois on May 22nd, 1939 in a single gun shipment. It's also interesting to note that this pistol was built December 22nd, 1938.
The reason why the Field Artillery would order a single pistol is unknown but from the research we have done at the time of this writing this is the one and only Service Model Ace that was shipped to this unit.
