This Colt M1911 was shipped to Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on February 12, 1918 in a shipment of 1,600 pistols.
This M1911 is one of the few pistols accepted by JMG (John M. Gilbert). Major John M. Gilbert was the Army Inspector of Ordnance from August 10th 1917 - March 29th 1918.
It is one of the last Colts finished by the Brushed Blue process before they went to the so called Black Army finish.
