This Colt M1911A1 was produced in 1940. It features Colt's Brushed blue finish and Coltrock plastic grips. The Coltrock grips were used very limitedly from approximately 71800 through 719752. They are also randomly seen on a few pistols above the 725000 range.
Accompanying this pistol is the original paperwork when this pistol was sold through the DCM in 1960. It was picked up by a Theddore J. Peterson of Carson City, Nevada.
The inspector stamp of C.S.R. is for Charles S. Reed. From August 2nd, 1938 to December 31st, 1940 he was in charge of the production and acceptance of ordnance in the Springfield Ordnance District. He was the officer in charge of the Outside Inspection (A.I.O.).
