This Colt 38 Super was built in 1969. It features the CS prefix on the serial number which was ran from 1969-1970 before Colt changed to the series 70 pistol and also changed the serial number prefixes.
The finish on the flat side surfaces are Colt's post-war dark blued finish. On the top of the slide, around the trigger guard, front strap, bottom of slide it has a matte finish. This was to reduce glare and give a pleasing 2-tone look.
The grips are Coltwood which was used in the 1950's through the late 1960's on most of the government model and commander pistols. In this era it's very common to observe grips that have shrunk creating gaps between the grip screw bushings.
Accompanying this pistol is the original 2 piece wood grain box with the serial number on the underneath.
