This Colt Woodsman Match Target was sold to the United States Government and was shipped to the Officer in Charge at the Naval Supply Depot of Norfolk, Virginia on October 26th, 1943. It was on Colt Factor Order #3237 in a 375 gun shipment.
This Colt Woodsman Match Target Bullseye is finished in Colt's Fine brushed blue finish. It bears the crossed cannons on the left hand side underneath "The Woodsman". Note that this pistol and MT14729 were in the same 375 gun shipment. The right hand side of the frame has "G.H.D." stamped on it. This was the ordnance mark for Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry. He served as the Army Inspector of Ordnance from June 17th, 1942 until July 15th, 1945.
