This Colt Government Model was Sold to the Albany Hardware & Iron Company in Albany, New York. It was shipped to the State of New York, State Quartermaster, New York State Arsenal at 201-64th, Street in Brooklyn, New York on December 16th, 1950. This pistol was in a 250 gun shipment on Colt factory order #7078. The factory letter also reads that the pistol was factory engraved "Property of State of New York" engraved on the slide.
These pistols were sent to be issued to the New York Guard in 1950. These 250 pistols would replace the guard's service pistols which were recalled by the Army for use in the Korean War. The pistols were shipped in 5 crates of 50 pistols each. The 350 pistols range from serial number 246799-C to 247464-C.
These pistols would be in service until they were disposed in September of 1992.
