This Colt Government Model was produced in 1948 and consists of pre-war and post war parts and components. By this time the majority of pre-war parts had been utilized already. We still see the war-time plastic Colt grips, grip safety, front sight, rear sight and hammer. By this time all the war-time slides had been used and Colt had switched to a single like address on the left hand side but was still using the pre-war roll mark for the right hand side of the slide.
This Colt was shipped March 18th, 1948 to the Albany Hardware & Iron Company located at Brodway at Arch Street in Albany, New York. It was part of a 10 gun shipment.
The top of the slide, grip s strap, underside of dust cover and slide has a new matte type finish that reduced glare and would ultimately give the Government Model a different type of look and feel.
