This Colt Service Model Ace was shipped to the Transportation Officer of the Army-Navy Consolidating Station in New York, New York. The factory letter states it was marked for the Officer in Charge at the Naval Supply Depot of Oakland, California. This pistol was part of a 565 gun shipment on June 23rd, 1945.
This Service Ace features Colt's Parco-Lubrite finish which is observed on pistols near the end of WWII production. Stocks are the later Coltwood which replaced the walnut stocks.
The Service Model Ace was a 5" barrel 22LR caliber pistol. It's weight and recoil was meant to simulate that of a full size 45 caliber pistol.
