This Colt Woodsman Match Target shipped to the H&D Folsom Arms Company in New York, New York on November 12th, 1938 in a 5 gun shipment.
This pistol features Colt's fine brush blue finish and the factory checkered walnut elephant ear wrap around grips. Where the grips are fully wrapped around Colt decided to stamp the serial number of these pistols in the magazine well.
The first series Match Targets featured a 6 5/8" flat sided barrel. This example is a later style with the 2nd type of "Match Target" logo used.
Introduced in 1938 The Colt Woodsman Match target was produced in response of the target shooters at the time. It featured larger grips, a heavier barrel and a hand honed action.
