This Colt Model 1902 Military was shipped to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company, London Agency in London England on October 28th, 1903 in a 140 gun shipment. British proof marks can be seen on the left side of the slide underneath the rampant Colt.
The left side of the slide reads "Browning's Patent" PAT'D APRIL 20.1897 SEPTEMBER 9. 1902 COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. Co. HARTFORD CONN. U.S.A. The right side of the slide reads AUTOMATIC COLT CALIBER 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS MODEL 1902.
This is a early 1902 example which features the nail file checkering at the front of the slide and the round rear hammer. It is finished in Colt's high polish blue with fire blue small parts.
