This Colt 1903 pocket hammerless was shipped to Jefferson A. Casserly, 1st Lt. MAC Personnel Division Headquarters at the Army Service Forces Training Center at Camp Polk Louisiana. This was a single gun shipment sent directly to Lt. Casserly on April 13th 1946.
The Army Service Forces was one of 3 autonomous components of the U.S. Army during WWII. It was created during a reorganizing of the war department in March of 1942. The other two components were the Army Air Forces and the Army Ground Forces.
Note there is no cross cannons ordnance acceptance mark behind the thumb safety. This is one of the very few guns that were made so late in the war that it hadn't been inspected yet at the point the war was over and the contract was cancelled.
