This Colt Government Model was assembled in 1919 using leftover parts from the unassembled guns from the WWI effort. This particular pistol's receiver has the heart shaped protrusions underneath the grip panels which can be seen once they are removed.
It was shipped May 6th, 1919 to the Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Company of Louisville Kentucky in a 25 gun shipment.
The slide still features the old-style slide marking. Shortly after this Colt would switch to the more modern 2 line logo and the rampant colt would switch to the right side of the slide.
