This Colt Police Positive is chambered in .38 Special and had a 4" barrel. The factory letter shows that it was engraved with "U.S. Customs" on backstrap and "No. 2226" on butt. It was sold to Joseph A. Lorch at 1010 Vermont Avenue in Washington, D.C. It was shipped to the U.S. Customs Agency, Collector of Customs in Los Angeles, CA on February 4th, 1941 in a 12 gun shipment.
The letter remarks "Joseph A. Lorch was the Colt Representative for Government contracts in Washington during this time period."
